The Mystery Gift feature offers you the chance to download extra rewards for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

You do this by redeeming Mystery Gift codes or from downloading the item via the Internet using the Mystery Gift feature.

How to get and unlock Mystery Gift in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

If you want to collect Mystery Gifts in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you must first unlock the feature. This can be done in the Jubilife TV Center anytime after you've earned the first Gym badge and defeated the two Team Galactic Grunts at the northern exit of Jubilife City.

With these feats completed, visit the Jubilife TV Center and take the elevator to the third floor. Here you'll find a man who, when talked to, will ask you what kind of programming you're interested in.

Now select 'Everyone Happy' and 'Wi-Fi Connection' and, once you've finished speaking, save your game. The Mystery Gift feature should now be presented in your X menu; if not, try shutting down the game and reopening it.

You'll now be able to download Mystery Gifts and look at the record for which games you've received.

How to redeem Mystery Gift codes in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Once you have unlocked Mystery Gifts, to redeem them - be it by code or downloading it via the Internet - in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining, you must have an Internet connection. Thankfully, you don't need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to collect any of the gifts.

When you're ready to redeem a Mystery Gift, select the feature from the X menu. You can do this anywhere in the game. Doing so will bring you to three options:

Get via InternetGet with Code / PasswordCheck Mystery Gifts

Make sure you select the correct option for the gift you wish to download, because you won't be able to download a gift requiring a code via the Internet and vice versa.

Choosing 'Get via Internet' will open a list of all the gifts currently available via this option and, from which, you can select the one you wish to download. You can only download one gift through this option at a time, so, if there are multiple items available, you will have to complete this process a number of times.

Choosing 'Get with Code / Password' will bring you to a box where you need to correctly enter the code to download your gifts. Once the code is entered correctly, you simply need to wait for the items to download into the game.

Finally, 'Check Mystery Gifts' will bring you to a list of all the Mystery Gifts you've received so far. This is quite useful if you can't remember whether you've redeemed a code or not.
